SUMMARY:
Igor Fineman, MD is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in stereotactic neurosurgery and the surgical treatment of movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Fineman joined City of Hope in (date). In addition to stereotactic neurosurgery, Dr. Fineman’s clinical expertise includes treating benign and malignant tumors of the central nervous system with radiosurgical and open surgical techniques. His research interests have focused on traumatic brain injury and plasticity following injury, as well as the development of a cortical neural prosthesis to bypass the injured Central Nervous System.
Dr. Fineman received an undergraduate degree in Bioengineering from the University of California , Los Angeles (UCLA), School of Engineering and Applied Science. After receiving his M.D. from the UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Fineman completed a Neurosurgical Residency at UCLA Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery and Radiosurgery. Dr. Fineman is the Director of the Movement Disorders Program and Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA. He is also the Director of the Section of Neurosurgery at Glendale Adventist Medical Center in Glendale, CA, a faculty member at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, CA, and a Visiting Associate at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA. Dr. Fineman is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association for Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery and Society for Neuroscience. .
