City of Hope was founded in 1913 in Duarte, California, by a small group of working-class men and women who believed in helping the less fortunate. Despite a modest beginning- two tents established on 10 acres of desert, City of Hope and City of Hope Medical Group, have together become world class leaders in medicine and science.

Comprised of more than 150 nationally recognized experts in medicine, City of Hope Medical Group, formed in 1977, provides multi-specialty physician services to City of Hope National Medical Center and other surrounding hospitals and communities. Collaborating to discover, develop and implement innovative strategies for the prevention of cancer and other life-threatening diseases, City of Hope Medical Group provides multi-disciplinary medical care through one integrated medical group. This academic physician practice model enables our physicians and scientists to work collaboratively as they bring discoveries in clinical research to the bedside of the patient.
